Inspired: Gold Heeled Shoes

Whilst doing some much needed retail therapy obligatory clothes shopping for an upcoming work trip, I decided that my shoe wardrobe was missing.. dun dun DUUUUHH! Gold. heeled. shoes. They're everywhere for late summer/fall and there are many cute options for any budget. However, I. have. a. lot. of. shoes. and can't justify buying one just because they're "cute" and I "wanted them". Here are some that I've been eyeing:

From ASOS to Jimmy Choo to Steve Madden and Aldo - these shoes are the bees knees right now. I had a few requirements in order for them to make the cut. 1) Comfort. Maybe I'm old now but I just can't wear uncomfortable shoes any more, no matter how cute. 2) Price. These puppies need to be $20 or less. A girl has outfits and jewellery to buy too, yaknowwhatimsayin! PLUS, I *might* have already bought three pairs of shoes for said trip. So this purchase is a total indulgence no matter how cheap.

Enter the blue pointed python flat from The Limited. This was an online-only item that someone made the the crazy mistake of returning in the store and I got for less than $15! They're pretty cute (and comfy!) on their own but a light bulb went off and huzzah! These bad boys were getting the gold treatment.

20 minutes later and a couple careful swipes of Rub 'n Buff, I was able to make these fabulous.

Apologies for the potato photo.. I do have a nice digital camera but need batteries and perhaps a beginners photo course to round it out. But the shoes are seriously snazzy. The photos do not do them justice. The heel is subtle (doesn't look painted!) and just what the shoe needed to give it some oomph and/or chutzpah. It's still summer and I haven't taken them for a test drive so I'm not sure how well the gold will hold up but I could always find a more durable gold and reapply. I will post better pictures when I get my camera in order.

What do you think about gold heeled shoes - or even better: DIY gold heeled shoes? Yay or nay?
